    Huron is located midway between Toledo and Cleveland on the southernmost point of Lake Erie. Known as “A Great Lake Place,” Huron has been a part of Erie County since 1838. Huron, pop. 7075 (2013) is a quiet, aesthetically pleasing community that offers a rich history and abounds with many summer recreational opportunities. The Huron Playhouse, the oldest continuing summer theatre in Ohio, has been providing first class stage entertainment to residents of Erie County since 1948. The downtown Huron Boat Basin and Amphitheater offers Sunday, Wednesday and weekend Arts, Movie and Music events annually summer through early fall as well as boat dockage and restaurants. Old Woman Creek is a natural wildlife estuary and home to nearly 300 species of birds, 40 species of fish and hundreds of native plants. It became a state nature preserve in 1980.
